Moleculent is building a functional profiling platform that maps cell-to-cell communication directly in clinical tissue. Our instrument combines hardware, electronics, imaging, and software. We're now looking for someone to prove that it all works together! If you've tested and verified complex hardware/software systems, such as instruments, medtech, lab automation, robotics, or embedded products, and you enjoy tracking down failures that span hardware and software, this could be an exciting next step. This is a full-time, permanent position based on-site in Solna, Stockholm. Applications close on the 9th of November, but please apply as soon as possible. We review applications continuously, and the role may be filled before the closing date. Applicants must be eligible to work in Sweden without sponsorship. JOB DESCRIPTION As a Senior System Test Engineer, you will own system-level verification of the whole instrument. You’ll be a part of our software team of experienced, driven engineers. You'll work alongside our Senior Software Test Engineer, who focuses on software-level testing, while your focus is on the complete system: hardware, electronics, and software running together. You'll work daily with the instrument and software teams, and you'll have the mandate to shape how system-level verification is done at Moleculent. Key responsibilities include: Define test methods and strategy for system-level verification of the instrument Plan and run verification, system, and regression testing, and report the results Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and test rigs that exercise the software against real hardware, sensors, and mechanisms Integrate system tests into CI and release pipelines, so software and configuration updates are verified automatically before release Define and run the instrument-level release test process, confirming that each hardware, electronics, and software configuration is verified before it ships Work with the instrument and software teams to debug failures that span both QUALIFICATIONS We're looking for someone with a degree in Electrical, Embedded, Software, or Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience. You have 5+ years of professional experience in test and verification. Professional proficiency in English is a prerequisite. Required qualifications: Experience designing and executing system-level verification of complex hardware/software products Hands-on troubleshooting of physical systems, using logs, diagnostic tools, and test equipment to isolate failures across hardware and software Ability to develop automated tests and tooling in Python Nice to have: Experience testing analytical instruments, lab automation, or in-vitro diagnostics hardware Experience integrating automated system tests into CI/CD and release pipelines Experience with hardware test equipment such as bench instruments, environmental chambers, and fixtures/rigs Worked with requirements traceability or ALM tools (Jira, Polarion, DOORS, or similar) You'll thrive in this role if you're systematic and persistent in finding root causes, as comfortable at the lab bench as in a codebase, and eager to shape how a growing company ensures its product quality. You have a genuine quality mindset, rigorous yet flexible, naturally open, and good at building productive working relationships across teams. MOLECULENT We believe innovative biotechnology has enabled massive leaps forward in understanding the composition of tissues and organs. However, the functional understanding of how cells communicate in their native context and form these complex systems has just begun. We develop technology designed to uncover radical new insights into the cellular level of human biology by mapping the communication between cells in human tissue and providing meaningful data. https://www.moleculent.com/ Please note that Moleculent manages the recruitment process for this position. Join Moleculent and play a key role in building the software backbone of a cutting-edge life science instrumentation platform! If you've built software for lab systems, medtech, instruments, robotics, automation, or machine vision, or you come from traditional software with experience in complex operational systems and want to work closer to a physical product, this could be your next step! Moleculent is on a mission to build products that yield new insights into the molecular foundation of human biology. This is a chance to join a focused and dedicated team with extensive experience building successful life-science companies and products. Our platform combines hardware, imaging, data processing and you will help build the software that ties it all together and turns every instrument run into reliable, usable data. You will work across the software that supports the instrument, from experiment orchestration and data processing to operational tools and deployment. You will work side by side with our software technical lead and collaborate daily with the software, analysis, and instrument teams. Over your first year, you will move from contributing across the stack to owning releases, reliability, deployment, and monitoring, with a growing say in architecture. Key responsibilities include: Build and evolve the Python software, orchestration, and data-processing pipelines that run and support instrument experiments Investigate and solve problems that span software, data, infrastructure, and the physical instrument environment Improve reliability, monitoring, diagnostics and recovery across the platform Drive releases, CI/CD, deployment, and production readiness Build operational tools and interfaces for monitoring experiments, jobs, errors, and system health Automate engineering and operational work through scripts, tests, and AI-assisted workflows Review changes across the platform and gradually take ownership of architecture and operational decisions QUALIFICATIONS We're looking for someone with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
