The Banking Compliance & Risk team at Shine The Compliance & Risk team keeps Shine's customers and accounts safe from financial crime. Our mission is to detect and prevent fraud and money laundering and to secure customer accounts, without making life harder for the business owners who make up almost all of our customers. The team owns anti-money laundering (risk scoring, transaction monitoring and alerts, suspicious activity reports, sanctions and PEP screening) and fraud detection and prevention (real-time monitoring, pattern analysis, case investigation and resolution). It also owns the back-office products that our AML and fraud employees use every day. Every decision this team makes carries a cost on both sides. A missed fraud pattern costs customers money and puts our banking licence at risk. A false alert freezes the account of a plumber on the day they need to pay a supplier. We must get both right, across multiple countries, under regulators that keep changing the rules. The work also decides how much manual review our compliance and operations teams carry. Sharper risk scoring, better alert rules and good case tooling reduce the number of alerts an analyst opens and the time each one takes. Your role as a Senior Product Manager As the Product Manager of the Compliance & Risk team, you own the product strategy for how Shine detects and prevents financial crime and fraud. You build deep knowledge of AML and fraud regulation across France, Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark, and turn it into products that analysts can work with quickly and that legitimate customers barely notice. You work every day with an engineering manager, a designer, and the compliance, fraud and operations teams who use what we build. You need enough technical depth to question trade-offs on detection logic, rules and models, and data pipelines, and to bring technically driven opportunities into the team's priorities. Your responsibilities will include: Own the AML and fraud roadmap. Set the strategy for risk scoring, transaction monitoring, sanctions and PEP screening, and real-time fraud detection, and decide what we build, buy or change in each area. Run the team on outcomes. Define KPIs such as false positive rate, fraud loss rate, time to resolve a case, and the share of alerts closed without manual review, and tie every project to at least one of them. Turn regulation into scoped work. Follow regulatory change in our four markets, including the EU AML package and the payment rules on fraud and strong authentication, and translate each change into work with an owner and a date. Make security proportionate to risk. Shape the customer experience of strong authentication, phishing protection and account alerts so that friction rises only where risk rises. Build the back-office tools with the analysts. Sit with the people who work the alerts and cases, measure where their time goes, and ship tooling that removes the slowest steps. Work with engineering on data and detection. Own the trade-offs between rules and models, data quality, and where AI can triage alerts, with explainability and an audit trail a regulator can inspect. Set the strategic direction for our transaction monitoring and behavioral analytics across countries. Partner with compliance leadership. Write requirements that hold up in an audit, and give compliance officers the evidence they need to approve changes quickly. Drive discovery and delivery. Talk to customers and analysts every week, look for fixes that solve several problems at once, and mix structural improvements with quick wins. Manage incidents. Lead the product response to fraud spikes, alert backlogs and detection failures, and follow up until the root cause is fixed. 📍 Job located in Berlin; Amsterdam; Copenhagen; Madrid with possibility of two remote working days per week About you 5+ years as a Product Manager in a start-up or scale-up, with banking or fintech as a strong plus Experience building AML, fraud, KYC, transaction monitoring or sanctions screening products, or comparable risk products in payments or marketplaces Proven expertise in product discovery, delivery and data analysis, including pulling and reading the data yourself to size a problem Working knowledge of system architecture, data pipelines, rules engines or machine learning based detection Experience managing incidents and bugs and holding a high bar for operational reliability Comfort in a regulated environment where requirements change and not everything is defined up front Ability to work with compliance officers and fraud analysts and to make decisions with them on incomplete evidence A strong product mindset Fluent in English. French, German, Dutch or Danish is a plus. If this sounds like somewhere you want to grow, we'd love to hear from you. The Banking AI Foundation & Ops Efficiency Team at Shine. Our Banking AI Foundation & Ops Efficiency team accelerates operational efficiency across the Banking Domain by identifying and scaling high-impact, compliant AI-driven workflows. We're a cross-functional team of Software/AI engineers and data scientists who build these systems end-to-end together. Our work covers a wide range of AI-driven solutions depending on each team’s specific needs and goals. Evaluation, explainability, and traceability of these AI systems are a dedicated focus within our team, and the data scientists own that foundation across every project we ship. Your role as a Data Scientist We're looking for a Data Scientist/AI Engineer to contribute to the evaluation process of our system, as well as contribute to the orchestration design and AI safety foundation behind our AI-driven workflows. AI solutions are scaling quickly across the Banking Domain, and each new one needs the same evaluation rigour and compliance safeguards we've already built into our existing systems, applied consistently rather than reinvented from scratch each time. You will collaborate with the team to build and manage agentic systems, and be a key driver of the design of the evaluation process for these systems, with privacy and compliance safeguards in mind throughout the whole process. You will work together with your team to ship end-to-end systems. About you Define and implement evaluation metrics for our AI systems, tailored to what each use case needs to get right. Curate and maintain "golden" datasets to compare a system's real behaviour against the ideal result. Analyse historical data to determine what a given system's evals should be checking for in the first place. Monitor the AI/LLM-based components of our systems in production to catch regressions before they reach customers or compliance reviewers. Help build the agentic systems themselves, from single-purpose LLM agents to multi-agent systems with tool-calling and orchestration. Own privacy and compliance safeguards, ensuring sensitive data gets detected and redacted correctly and that every system is auditable end to end. Build and maintain observability for our agentic components using an LLM observability tool (Langfuse) to ensure agent behaviour stays traceable and transparent. Partner with the team's software engineers to take the project to production. Contribute to prioritising the automation opportunities across Banking that are worth pursuing, and help other teams adopt what we build. What success looks like 90 Days: Onboarded on the team's tooling and one live project. Shipped a first evaluation metric or golden dataset, and/or contributed to building or debugging an agent, with close support. Started a well-scoped task end to end. Relationships built with the team's engineers and senior teammates. 6 Months: Owns an evaluation pipeline and/or an agent-building or orchestration workstream for a live project end to end. Production issues within their scope are fixed independently rather than routed elsewhere. Design and evaluation trade-offs explained clearly to the team being supported. Contributing to a second project. 12 Months: Takes a loosely-specified problem, whether that's a new agent to build, a system to orchestrate, or a new eval strategy to define, from data analysis through implementation independently. Trusted as a second opinion on eval design and/or agent architecture by teammates. Contributing to prioritisation or adoption conversations across Banking and CX. Able to directly support a newer joiner on the team. Equal Opportunity Employer We follow the principle of equal treatment to consider all job applicants and do not discriminate based on their gender, sexual orientation, color, racial or ethnic origin, religion, disability, etc. as per applicable law. Our recruitment process 1️⃣ A 30' first call with Ahmed Sadek (Senior TAP) to get to know you better and share more about Shine. 2️⃣ A 60' interview with Danni Gregersen (Engineering Manager | AI Foundation & Ops Efficiency | Banking) to discuss your past experiences and the role we are offering. 3️⃣ A 60' General Tech Interview and Coding Interview (Tech Pre-screen). 4️⃣ A 90' business case to highlight your skills and give you a hands-on feel for the role.

If this sounds like somewhere you want to grow, we'd love to hear from you. Cloud, SaaS & Estate Cost at Shine Shine runs a multi-million-a-year technology cost base: AWS, GCP and Azure, a large SaaS portfolio, and an on-premises estate that arrived through acquisitions — Kyndryl-operated infrastructure, Nutanix, Citrix and VMware included. Today nobody owns that cost base end to end. Attribution is partial, commitments are made without a full picture, and every product lifecycle decision — keep, move, or end — is argued without defensible numbers on the table. Infrastructure & IT is changing that. Spending well means knowing where the company is actually going: products that end must actually end, long-term products are where investment concentrates, and for every open decision we bring the numbers — what it costs to keep, what it costs to move, what it saves to end. This role is where those numbers come from, and where cost stops being a quarterly surprise and becomes a first-class, automated signal in how the estate is run. This is a senior individual contributor role with real ownership. The direction — one legible, shrinking, well-understood estate — is set; how cost visibility, investigation and automation make it real is substantially on you. Your Role as a Finops Engineer What you own Cost visibility across the whole base, end to end. Cloud, SaaS and on-premises in one picture: attribution built into how the foundation is defined (tagging and allocation as code in the Terraform modules, not spreadsheets after the fact), SaaS spend tracked per tool and per owning team, and the acquired on-prem estate brought into the same view rather than left as a line item nobody can explain. The numbers behind every lifecycle decision. When a product's future is decided, you own the keep/move/end analysis: what it costs to run where it is, what migration costs, what a true sunset saves. Your numbers are what make retirement fundable and commitment planning safe. Cost automation, built with AI. Reporting, anomaly detection, investigation and forecasting built as automated pipelines — using AI tooling as a working instrument, not a demo. If a cost question has to be answered by hand twice, automating it is your job. Deep investigation, on demand. When Finance, a tribe lead, or leadership asks why a number moved, you can take it apart to the driver — service, workload, contract, or licence — and come back with an answer that holds up. Granular when it matters; we do not optimize for bolts. What you'll do day-to-day Build and maintain the attribution layer hands-on: tagging standards and allocation rules as code in the Terraform module library, cost data pipelines, showback with Finance per tribe and per product. Bring the SaaS portfolio under management — one inventory of tools, owners, contracts, renewal dates and per-seat cost, with each team seeing its own bill. Extend the same visibility over the on-premises estate: Kyndryl contracts, Nutanix, Citrix and VMware licensing and capacity, mapped to the products that depend on them and to their lifecycle dates. Produce the keep/move/end numbers for open product lifecycle decisions, and keep them current as decisions firm up. Automate reporting and anomaly detection with AI-assisted tooling — dashboards that answer questions before they're asked, alerts on spend that moves without a reason. Prepare the commitment strategy: unit economics per cloud, a committed-spend baseline that respects the retirement plan, and the analysis behind the hosting strategy decision — so that when the lifecycle decisions are final, the commitment cycle is ready to execute, not starting from scratch. Work with Finance on the cost-per-unit-of-delivery measure and the quarterly cost presentation to tribes — one definition, one number. Investigate specific cost questions raised by teams and leadership, in detail, and turn recurring questions into automated answers. About you Must-have 5+ years in FinOps, cloud cost engineering, or infrastructure engineering with substantial cost ownership — you've operated a real cost base, not just read the billing console Hands-on cloud fluency on at least one of AWS, GCP or Azure, with working knowledge of the others' billing and commitment models (CUDs, savings plans, reservations, enterprise agreements) Engineering-grade automation skills: you build pipelines, write code against billing and licensing APIs, and treat attribution as configuration in version control — comfortable working in Terraform, not around it Practical use of AI tooling in your own work — for analysis, report generation, investigation — with judgment about where it's dependable and where it isn't Experience making cost legible to non-specialists: showback or chargeback, unit economics, presentations to finance and engineering leadership that led to decisions Comfort with incomplete data and inherited mess — you can build a defensible picture from partial sources and state clearly what's known, estimated, and unknown Delivery attitude: you ship a working v1 of the cost picture and improve it, rather than waiting for perfect data that never arrives Strong plus SaaS spend management at portfolio scale: licence optimization, renewal negotiation support, shadow-IT discovery On-premises and hybrid cost experience: outsourced infrastructure contracts (e.g. Kyndryl or similar), virtualization licensing (VMware, Citrix, Nutanix), data-centre unit economics Experience supporting a migration or consolidation program with cost analysis — you know what keep/move/end numbers look like when they're actually used FinOps Foundation certification or equivalent practice familiarity Background in regulated industries (fintech, accounting, banking) Experience in a post-acquisition environment where multiple estates were brought under one view How we measure success Visibility Cost attribution coverage across cloud, SaaS and on-prem — trending toward 100%, with unattributed spend held under 5% Inventory of the SaaS portfolio and on-prem contracts: complete, current, and owned Time to answer a cost question — trending down, because the answer is increasingly automated Decisions Keep/move/end numbers delivered for every open lifecycle decision, on time and defensible The cost-per-unit-of-delivery measure defined and baselined with Finance Commitment strategy ready when lifecycle decisions land — savings captured against a baseline that respects the retirement plan, not despite it Trust Finance and tribe leads use your numbers without re-deriving them Qualitative signal: teams bring you cost questions early, rather than discovering the answer at quarter close What this is not This is not a procurement role, a controller role, or a slideware role. It's not penny-hunting: we report and investigate in detail, but we don't optimize for bolts — the leverage is in attribution, lifecycle decisions, commitments and the SaaS portfolio, not in shaving cents off individual workloads. It's also not a role where savings are your burden alone. Retirement and commitment decisions are made by product and leadership with the numbers you provide; your part is making the cost base so legible, and the numbers so defensible, that the right decision becomes the obvious one. Equal Opportunity Employer We follow the principle of equal treatment to consider all job applicants and do not discriminate based on their gender, sexual orientation, color, racial or ethnic origin, religion, disability, etc. as per applicable law.
