The Platform team creates the technology that enables Spotify to learn quickly and scale easily, enabling rapid growth in our users and our business around the globe. Spanning many disciplines, we work to make the business work; creating the infrastructure, tooling, frameworks, and capabilities needed to welcome a billion customers. The IT Studio exists to remove the friction of work, unblocking Spotifiers anywhere, anytime, with simplicity and safety. We’re behind the technology that thousands of Spotifiers rely on every day, spanning devices, identity and access, networking, IT support, audio visual and meeting room technology, productivity platforms, work management tooling, and AI tooling. We’re looking for an AV Engineer II to join the IT Studio in Stockholm and help create reliable, intuitive AV experiences across our office. You’ll own everything from everyday meeting-room technology to high-stakes executive meetings, partnering with our global AV team, IT Support, NetOps, other technical teams, and external vendors.
LilEngine is leading the Lakehouse, a company-strategic effort to make Apache Iceberg a first-class citizen in Spotify's data ecosystem. We're building it in close collaboration with Google, on open standards, so that different kinds of data are queryable the same way and teams can bring the right engine, from BigQuery to Dataflow to Trino, to the job. The work has two parts. Hecate enables Iceberg for the Parquet datasets that already exist across Spotify, so teams get the benefits without rewriting their data. Alongside it, we're building the foundations of a new Lakehouse architecture that lets workflows write Iceberg tables natively. We're shipping the MVP this cycle, and you'll help shape what comes next. We also own BigQuery for all of Spotify. Thousands of engineers, data scientists and pipelines depend on it every day, which puts us on the critical path for storing, finding and querying data. We're judged on reliability, cost efficiency and how quickly we unblock users when something breaks. This backend role sits where open table formats, cloud data warehouses and processing engines meet.
Every dataset at Spotify, from the data behind creator royalties to the signals powering recommendations, is registered, published and traced through systems our team builds. We're the source of truth for what data exists at Spotify, where it lives, who owns it, and how it flows from one pipeline to the next. These systems sit on the critical path of the platform. Data teams use them every day to publish and find data, and other platform teams build on them for access, retention, governance and incident response. That means our work is judged on correctness and reliability, because every system built on top of ours is only as good as the metadata we provide. This is a backend role focused on data management, working on the problems at the core of any large data platform: running a data catalog that stays accurate at scale, capturing lineage across batch and streaming workloads, managing schemas as they evolve, and guaranteeing that consumers only read complete data. We build on open standards like OpenLineage and Apache Iceberg, and define the internal standards for naming, storage and metadata that the rest of Spotify builds against. As the platform takes on new storage technologies and new kinds of data assets, those standards and the systems behind them have to evolve with it, and you'll help decide how.
