Kemikum, med fler än 200 medarbetare, är en av de största institutionerna vid Stockholms universitet. Forskningen vid Kemikum sträcker sig över kemins alla områden som analytisk kemi, fysikalisk kemi, materialkemi, oorganisk och strukturkemi samt organisk kemi. Forskningsprojekten är många från teori till experiment, från ren grundforskning till mer tillämpade projekt ofta med fokus på hållbar kemi men även avancerade analysmetoder av kemikalier och material. Kemikum har en mycket väl utbyggd forskningsinfrastruktur med en mängd utrustning med kvalificerat stöd från stabsforskare. Under det senaste decenniet har elektronkristallografiska metoder såsom tredimensionell elektrondiffraktion (3D ED) och avbildningstekniker inom aberrationskorrigerad transmissionselektronmikroskopi utvecklats till en verktygslåda som flyttat gränserna för vår förståelse av deras strukturer. Materials egenskaper bestäms av deras strukturer på atomär och molekylär skala, och deras selektivitet som katalysatorer och adsorbenter styrs till stor del av strukturen och den kemiska funktionaliteten. I detta projekt kommer vi att använda och utveckla avancerade tekniker baserade på transmissionselektronmikroskopi, såsom tredimensionell elektrondiffraktion (3D ED) och fasskontrast-sveptransmissionselektronmikroskopi (STEM) för strukturanalys av nanoporösa material såsom zeoliter, MOFs med mera, på atomär skala. Postdoktorn kommer att arbeta i universitetslektor Tom Willhammars grupp (www.willhammargroup.com). Arbetsuppgifter Projektet syftar till att genomföra och utveckla protokoll för strukturundersökningar av nanoporösa material såsom zeoliter och MOFs på atomär skala, inklusive defekter och gästmolekyler. För detta ändamål kommer kandidaten att använda elektronkristallografitekniker, såsom tredimensionell elektrondiffraktion (3D ED/MicroED) och STEM-bilder. Projektet innefattar utveckling av protokoll för insamling och analys av elektronmikroskopidata samt deras tillämpningar för undersökning av atomära strukturer hos nanoporösa material. Behörighetskrav För att vara behörig för anställning som postdoktor krävs avlagd doktorsexamen eller utländsk examen som bedöms motsvara relevant doktorsexamen. About us The research at the Division of Microstructure Physics focuses on experimental investigations of engineering materials using advanced characterization techniques. We mainly use electron microscopy, atom probe tomography (APT) and large scale facilities (synchrotron and neutron scattering). The research primarily deals with the relation between microstructure and properties, and how this relationship is influenced by processing and in-service degradation. Among the materials studied, steel, hard coatings, zirconium alloys and high entropy materials are central. The applications are often related to energy and sustainability. About the research project Nuclear fuel is enclosed in cladding tubes made from zirconium alloys. To improve reactor safety and economic performance, new alloys are continuously being developed. In this project, the corrosion behaviour of a novel zirconium alloy will be investigated to improve our understanding of the underlying corrosion mechanisms and support the development of next-generation materials. Advanced characterization techniques, including electron microscopy and atom probe tomography, will be used to study corrosion processes at the atomic scale. Job description and responsibilities We are expanding our Semiconductor Devices department and looking for a Cleanroom Process Technician to take ownership of the well-defined microfabrication process steps that bring our transistors to life. As our process technician, you will master these steps and run them consistently and with care, making you a central part of how our devices are actually made. You will spend much of your time in a modern cleanroom, operating advanced fabrication equipment according to established recipes, conducting routine measurements and inspections on wafers, and clearly documenting your findings for the engineering team. Department of Molecular Sciences Third-cycle subject area: Chemistry Description of the doctoral project Do you want to work in a project that aims to replace fossil sources with forest raw materials for the production of biomaterials? Are you interested in immersing yourself in molecular interactions at the atomic level with advanced analytical instruments? Do you want to work with a whole group of researchers who share these interests? If so, this could be a PhD position for you. The overall goal of this PhD project is to enzymatically modify glycans from hemicellulose to produce bio-based crosslinkers for applications in adhesives, hydrogels and other crosslinked materials. However, many materials that we consider bio-based, such as wood fibreboards, hydrogels and stabilizers from non-fossil polymers, still rely on crosslinkers that have fossil origins and are often very harmful chemicals. Fibreboards for furniture, construction and insulation typically contain around 9% glue consisting of urea formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is classified as a known human carcinogen and its emissions from fibreboards are a major concern. Oxidative enzymes will be used on hemicellulose substrates, such as xyloglucan and glucomannan, to obtain aldehyde and ketone functions on the sugar ring in parallel with a partial degradation to oligosaccharides. The expected result is a collection of non-toxic, bio-based crosslinkers that can potentially replace formaldehyde and similar fossil-based crosslinkers. About the position You will be part of a research group conducting research in organic chemistry and biotechnology with a focus on structural analysis of enzymes and carbohydrate substrates using NMR spectroscopy, as well as the development of new methods for studying interactions between proteins and carbohydrates using NMR spectroscopy. The project includes a lot of laboratory work and will be carried out with an advanced level of characterization using NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry to be able to draw conclusions about the structural composition of the crosslinkers and the crosslinked materials. To achieve these goals while ensuring a productive and enriching environment, the project includes supervision in organic chemistry, enzymology and wood technology. The position also includes teaching up to 20% of the time. Requirements To meet the general entry requirements you must have: been awarded a second-cycle (Master’s) qualification; satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the second-cycle, or acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad (Higher Education Ordinance 1993:100, Chapter 7, Section 39). Specific entry requirements for the third-cycle courses and study programme in chemistry: To meet the specific entry requirements, you must have at least 60 HEC in chemistry-related subjects (general, analytical, inorganic, organic and physical chemistry as well as biochemistry). Job Scope High level purpose of function. A Quality Technician leads product and process quality compliance in production line. This role is responsible for confirming key quality attributes of intermediate products and processes as well as identifying and responding to non-conformity issues in production. In addition, this role is responsible for analysing test material, incoming parts, product intermediates and finalized products for Production using a range of instruments. This role will work closely with production staff and Quality Engineers. A Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that production processes and products meet internal and customers’ quality specifications as well as defining problems, recommending solutions and follows-up on improvements. Key Responsibilities Overall areas of responsibilities and activities . Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to) : Lead day-to-day quality assurance activities in production ensuring that production/product quality specifications are met. Ensure control checks are completed according to control plan in defined time. Ensure robust start of production and coordinated quality handover between shifts. Ensure 5S in control and measurement areas and participate in improving 5S methodology and actions together with production team. Ensure documentation and record of product and process quality data and utilize these to improve processes. Potential to operate various measurement equipment such as a Karl Fischer, measurement by ruler or micrometre, microscopes, perform testing with measuring instruments, perform basic data analysis, interpret data and report data/results as instructed. Interpret data and report data/results on yearly, monthly, and daily basis. Understand and execute the testing plans for material, incoming parts, product intermediates and finalized products. Help identify problems with test material, analysis methods, and instrumentation. Organize test results in the expected template and/or LIMS system and maintain control charts. Be able to troubleshoot instrument on basic and advance problems and utilizing the help of suppliers or experts for more major issues.
